A methodical order matters more than replacing the battery: shrink the space with zero-cost checks first, then decide whether to act or repair.
My phone has been getting hot and losing charge about twice as fast for the past week — what is most likely?
依据:New apps plus heat while idle fits background activity; the battery-usage list usually confirms it directly
依据:If the OS was updated recently this usually settles within a few days
依据:Common on older devices; check battery health
依据:If the heat is concentrated during charging, this moves up
依据:Needs more evidence; ranked last by Occam's razor
If a background app is responsible, the signature is "drains while idle, warm continuously", with one app unusually high in the usage list — and the change is visible immediately after you deal with it. If the battery is ageing, charging is fast, discharge is fast, and it still warms near full charge regardless of what you installed.
The skeleton here is cost ordering: the usage list and the airplane-mode test are free, uninstalling is reversible, and battery or hardware checks cost the most. Most "suddenly hot and draining" cases are located in the first two steps.
